Experiencing New Flavours
Hi everyone!
Today I’m going to talk about one of the strongest point of my city without a doubt;
of its incredible, luxurious and prestigious restaurants in the whole world. I
hope you enjoy it and learn something more about my culture!!
First of all, I’m
going to explain a bit what the Michelin stars are and what it means to have
one of them.
Michelin stars are today
one of the most reliable ways to value the quality of a restaurant. Despite
having many detractors, among all the prizes that are awarded in the world of
high cuisine, it remains the most reliable and recognized world-wide scale.
The Michelin
tyre brand devised this system back in 1926, when it decided to make a list of
the best restaurants in the world as with one, two or three stars depending on
the quality of their cuisine. Michelin has several critics scattered around the
world who are visiting and testing the restaurants they believe are at the
highest level at every moment.
The Basque
Country in general, and San Sebastian and its surroundings in particular, has
always been very well considered by these critics. For the population and size
it has, Guipuzcoa can be considered one of the places that more Michelin star
restaurants have per square metre.
Of the total of five restaurants with 3
Michelin stars that there are in all of Spain, there are three in San Sebastian-
complemented with another great selection of restaurants that gather a total of
16 Michelin stars.
The three Michelin-stars restaurants we
have in the Basque Country are Martín Berasategi, Akelarre and Arzak.
- Martin Berasategi
It
has a creative cuisine menu based on traditional flavours. Without stop
creating, he advises various restaurants.
Chef: Martin Berasategui.
- Arzak
Basque cuisine
of author, research, evolution and avant-garde.
Arzak's cuisine has a lot of research, experimentation and a point of magic that resides in their laboratory. It is a place where creativity, ingenuity and inspiration roam freely.
Chefs: Juan Mari
and his daughter Elena Arzak
The price is around 210€.
- Akelarre
Illusionist
of the senses from a personal cuisine of basque root, in their degustation
menus, the chef shows a succession of recipes that are not always what they
seem and never cease to surprise.
Chef: Pedro
Subijana.
They have three tasting menus and each one costs 195€ +10%VAT without any drinks.
See you in the
next post!!!!
